2) Is there any way to fix that duck?
3) Why do I sound so god awful in recording form? Sad

Half hour into it now...Vince is having way to much fun with the "wawa pedal" at David's expense  Roll On Floor Laughing

I. Am. Going. To. See. How. It. Plays. Out.  It's the least I can do

Doesn't matter how it plays out. The concept exists independent of the story. It's right there, splattered all over that double-page spread. Goofy amalgamated Skrulls. Will a stunning explanation as to how and why these characters exist or a virtuosic denouement to the story somehow magically make the concept any less silly and hackneyed than it already is?

Not a chance.

Do you mean his read pajamas?  The one that's missing the butt-flap?

Didn't he throw those on for an issue of Excalibur, back in the day?

What excites me about Bendis' work is that he's promised it's going to be anything BUT a Deux Ex Machina.

This is definitely not a crack on anyone and is actually an honest question, but since I've not been reading the current Captain Marvel mini, would the events for that character be considered Deus Ex Machina?

Omigosh!  Beware The Cliffhanger!!!  Yeah, a bunch of Skrulls with powers and taking on the appearances of a bunch of heroes sure is hackneyed. [/sarcasm]

I'll take my silly and you enjoy your Last Man on Earth.  I'll be over here checking out how the heroes come together to save the day.

Which events?  The last issue?  Or the series as a whole?

I would argue they save us from one of the worst things Marvel has done in ages. Bringing him back and then saying he was from the future, all to seemingly have him be a glorified prison warden was ASININE. So what we've learned in his mini and in Secret Invasion makes a  helluva lot more sense, to me.

Here's the problem I have with Image's superhero books-- Kirkman and Faeber are trying to be Marvel.  Where's the originality in that?  Invincible is just Spider-Man.  Noble Causes is Fantastic Four.  Woo hoo.  Look at how new and exciting these guys are.

I'm still getting some superhero books but I'm finally getting so sick and tired of superheroes, whether they're put out by DC, Marvel, Image or Dark Horse.  After 30 some years of reading, I'm bored by the whole concept no matter who's putting it out.

Sci-Fi and crime is where it's at now. (said half in jest and half seriously)

It's got nothing to do with a cliffhanger and everything with the concept and character design (or lack thereof).

If you believe a Skrull mishmash of X-Men is cool, more power to you. I think it's gradeschool silliness.

Whatever works for you.  Smiley

I'm good with this.  I was very anti-happy with the whole Civil War: The Return handjob;  really seemed like Marvel was just taking a viscious dump on what had been a classic story.

I wonder if some of the writers these days just don't have the options available to write something "new and different" if they really love the superhero genre.  After 60 - 70+ years of books being published, what "new" stories really can be told?  That's not a knock on the writers, just a limitation that they have to work within.

As opposed to how a young girl might get impregnated by a giant fly? Or how a zombie might desecrate the vital parts of a nun? Or how a bunch of human CIA spooks might magically drink an elixir and kick the shit out of the Justice League amalgam, all the while telling funny jokes? Or how a mild-mannered newspaper photographer might become magically imbued with "many powers." Or perhaps how the invisible man, Dr. Jekyll, Allan Quartermain and Captain Nemo might find themselves brought together to solve crimes!??! Or less hackneyed than cute pets who are imbued with bionic weaponry and human level intelligence? Or an anthropomorphic billionaire duck who loves to swim in a skyscraper sized vault of his gold coins? SERIOUSLY!?!?!?!

But then what does that make a nun who's breaking bread at the holy cock?  A groundbreaking new storyline?  That hasn't stopped me from ordering the Crawl Space trade or the SI singles in either case, I just think that not only can books be written for different reasons, even by the same authors, by individual readers can buy different books for different reasons.

Now, normally I'm all about letting people like what they want and talk about what they want.  But, Jesus, could the DC snobberies be any more apparent.  Seriously, attacking ideas that are just as plausible as anything that takes place in DC comics and for what simply seems to be because it comes from a Marvel title.  You never see Marvel readers trying to blatantly attack DC readers because of what they read.  It almost always seems to come from DC Nazi's.  I stopped reading comic blogs for that very reason.  Hopefully this can be kept to a minimum.  Not that I only read Marvel comics but that's what I came up reading and what turned me on to comics in the first place.  I don't mind when it's said that Marvel doesn't really interest him but to out and out attack Marvel comics and anyone who reads them is just him being a complete a$$hole.  Sorry but that's my opinion and I hate saying it because there is so much stuff brought up about other titles that is informative and interesting.  Just stop the Marvel bashing for the sake of Marvel bashing.

Attack anyone who reads Marvel comics? Where was this done? Give me a time stamp.

I have a problem with the concept. If you believe I'm implying that the readers responding to the concept in a positive way are as idiotic as the concept itself, you need to relearn the fine art of listening.

None of our arguments are partisan. We're big enough boys to enjoy comics from all publishers.

Don't be an asswipe.

Artistically, the visual representation of the idea as presented in Secret Invasion #2 is weak. Conceptually, it's well within the realm of the juvenile. Blending the costumes of the heroes each Skrull represents is SILLY. Look! I've got Iron Man's ARM, therefore I have his POWER! I wonder if the Skrull is also an alcoholic?

How would you propose they have done it? I'm still baffled here.
