How would you propose they have done it? I'm still baffled here.
Skrulls aren't Sontarans; they need the visual cues to help keep themselves straight.

What's wrong with the old-school method? Why not run with the idea of the original Super Skrull? Nothing wrong with the green-and-purple costume. He had the power of the Thing, so his arm transformed to mimic the Thing's arm. Easy. Classic. Why would a Skrull impersonating the power of Wolverine need to wear a spiked cowl? Does it help him get more "in character"? Why wear Nova's three-burst chest design or Ikaris' chest emblem? Why do the Skrulls need to cosplay to show off their powers?

The simple answer is, because it wouldn't have made for a good splash page and Leinil Yu has to eat too! But why would how a villain is visually portrayed really matter that much, it's comics; where we readily accept the necessity for people to don spandex in bright colors.

If that rationale gets you through the book, who am I to argue?

It was funny, at the 1 hour mark Vince started trying to wrap up and David, Wood and I just kept going We actually stayed on the line for another half hour after that.

and IMHO, Cassanova Well, now you're just talking crazy. If you believe a Skrull mishmash of X-Men is cool, more power to you. I think it's gradeschool silliness. But because Morrison is a magician and wants to do crazy things to DC characters that's not silly? His wacky ideas are more highbrow than Secret Invasion? I guess because I need a PhD to follow his stories I'm better off in the sandbox with the rest of the gradeschoolers. Last year Marvel tried something a little heavier with Civil War and - while still comic book-y violence - politics played a big part in the story. This year, maybe they thought they would try something more familiar that the audience can get behind. I get that you feel that this is a new 'low'. You think it's poor form to have a Skrull appear mashed up as the heroes of a team. If they all looked like K'lrt maybe it would be confusing. Maybe. Maybe twenty years ago they would have been more subtle. Would I have liked that? Probably. Yes, the old, classic formula worked. But maybe they want to try things without going to that well, visually. Geoff Johns brought Hal back because that was his Green Lantern when he was growing up. Byrne wanted to play with the toys Stan and Jack created. Bendis has a love for certain Marvel characters, like Spider-Woman and Power Man. So he created a team where he could use them. Maybe someone thought these mishmashes were 'cool' and wanted to see them realized.EDIT: Read like an unfinished thought.

And that was a highlight for me. It was worth feeling tired when the alarm went off.

So your rebuttal to my criticism of Secret Invasion is to criticize DC? Wonder why that is?
