Per our announcement in Episode 128, we are having a  Welcome CONTEST  Welcome

Here's what we're looking for:

An 11 O'Clock Comics logo
Submissions should be posted as a Gif in this thread, but the actual logo (if you're chosen as the winner) needs to be in a vector (or comparable) format so that the resolution is high enough to use in various ways.

Why we want it:

We have frequent requests from people for 11OC themed merch, and we too would love to have some stuff. I know I would love an 11OC hoodie for when I'm getting my run on, and Chris would love an 11OC shot glass for when he's breathing, er, I mean getting his drink on. And DAP would love an 11OC tea cozy, because he's cool like that. And last but certainly not least, Vince wants a Real Doll with the 11OC logo on her forehead.

In all seriousness, one of the great things about this community is the bustling artistic talents of so many of you. We would love nothing more than to proudly display your creation.

What you win:

I am about 90% done my comic room and have come across dozens of trades that I have dupes of AND the veritable double dip effect of entire runs on comics that I now own in collected form. All of that must go! So I'm going to box up an entire short box full of stuff for the winner. It'll be of my choosing, but if y'all listen to the show you KNOW I have mad good taste. Smiley

You also win, perhaps more importantly, the cachet of knowing that your efforts will forever become a part of the 11OC family in a new and exciting way.

Last but not least, Chris promises to buy you a drink every time he sees you from here on out.  Thumbs Up

Judging/Timetable

For this contest, the four of us will decide amongst ourselves the winner. Ultimately the way we come to a decision could range from ritual sacrifice to random dice rolls to a subjective critique of the merits of each work, or some combination of the three. But in all seriousness, we will decide between the four of us and announce the winner. As to when? The sooner the better but for now submissions will be open ended, and we'll decide by the early frequency of submissions what makes for a suitable cutoff date. Let's say you have AT LEAST two weeks but probably longer to work your mojo.

Hanging Chads

It is our intent to use the winning logo in a variety of forms, including on some type of 11OC store schwag, and possibly even business cards  Yes and a banner for when we go to conventions and stuff. We aren't planning on making said schwag for the purpose of profiting from it. But that said, understand that if your logo is picked as the winning one, we "own" the rights to its use. Last but not least, seeing as how we have our own immensely talented artist in the fold (cough cough Vince cough cough), we always reserve the right to use other logos and/or retire the winning one at some point.

That should do it. Let's see what you've got up your sleeves. And THANKS IN ADVANCE!  Rock Horns

I have no doubt that the communicty has some talented artists. On the chance that that avenue does not bear fryuit, I'll say that the Darkseid 11OC banenr under Wood's posts would look amazing on a range of products. (I expect DC's legal team would nto be appreciative though)

Look forward to the contest results and sending you mad money for swagg some day.

Nothing, in particular. But we've wanted something else for awhile. Vince has wanted to come up with one on his own for some time, but he's quite busy between the show, editing the show, work and buying a new house so we all agreed that we should open up the kimono and let someone else do their thangalangadingdong.  Yes

Do you require that the logo contain the name of the show, or can it be just an icon, like the Pepsi or Apple logo?

We'd prefer either a vector .eps/.ai or hi-res 600dpi+ .tiff format.

For posting on the forum, dumb the files down to 72 dpi .jpg or .gif.

Excellent. That's what I thought. Thanks, Vince.

Last question: should the logo work as b&w as well as four-color?
Or will it exclusively be represented as one or the other?

Print flexibility could very well sway the vote in a deadlock situation. The inverse is also true. If someone submits a 32-color logo, chances are very good it won't make it to the finish line.

Remember, these things are probably going to be printed on the relative cheap. The more options you build into your design -- works very well in color as well as B&W, tasteful spot color instead of full-on rainbow process color, etc. -- the more consideration it will receive.  Yes
