I had a lot of fun with this one. Cutting loose and just focusing on line and form, it's like biking around corn fields in summer. It's just good for you.

Definitely better than running through a cornfield backwards...
Anyway, nice piece. Saw it earlier on Twitter...

Thank you so much. Tezuka is a major inspiration for me. I try my best to learn from him.

Vince, would a free sketch smooth things over? You weren't at C2E2, so you didn't get one.

We all should learn as much from Tezuka as possible. I gave you more karma, keep up the great work man.

Not know who Tezuka is before looking it up I do see it.
But the first thing I thought of when I took a look was Scott Pilgram. But then Tezuka might have influence him.

Thanks for all the kind words everyone. I stepped out on a limb with style, so it's good to see people digging it.

Well, anyone who does manga style is influenced by Tezuka. He's not the first, but he really set some treads and formalized the language of manga. He himself was inspired by early Disney work, like Steamboat Willy. He cemented the notion that if cartooning emotion is achieved by certain facial features, make the eyes (and sometimes the mouth) bigger, and get the rest out of the way. Manga and anime style may not be to some people's liking, but it does take more full advantage of smaller panels by giving you more emotional information. SCIENCE!
