Marvel Noise Episode 47
« on: 12:08 PM | Thursday, August 28, 2008 »

Summer's not over, so it's more bare-bones goodness. Our host is in and out - toot sweet - and is followed by Pat Loika, who brings us the new releases and current events; Backwards Dave and Bring 'em Back, Mike and the Mighty Marvel Movie Minute, Adam and the latest Marvel Unbound, and Chris Chavez wraps things up with another hijacked Marvel Tales. What a crew. All this and some lame-ass fashion critique for Dallan.

Titles discussed include Amazing Spider-Man, Runaways, Avengers: The Initiative, Ghost Rider, Daredevil, and Wolverine: First Class.

Get it here.

I'm a bit behind but have got it on my playlist for some (hopefully) much needed, post vacation lawn care tomorrow!  Thanks for keeping me distracted with lots of comic book talk! Not Worthy

Fun show gang, a nice Bring 'em Back, and I've been enjoying Equinox's Marvel Tales (particularly the Micronauts/Man Thing from last week!).  Adam's Unbound continues to entertain and often ring true for me, with an uncanny rate of similar experiences to my own.  The Mighty Marvel Movie minute is always a chock-full-of information treat.  Pat's bits are always appreciated and contain a laugh or two ("so just go get it.."), and David seems like a very good driver Cheesy.
Thanks, gang! One Wave

It is a joy for a marvel guy to see the new noise! AND every week at that.

Chris Chavez,

I gotta give you big props for this week's Spidey Marvel Tales!  Great issue.  Great interpretation.  Loved it!  But what I loved even more was the surprise at the end of it!

You see, somehow or another, I either forgot to, or somehow accidentally didn't know that I hadn't, listened to the end of last week's episode.  So, as I was driving home from my gig tonight and listening to THIS WEEK's episode, and at the very end of Marvel Tales, with zero cue music and absolutely no fanfare whatsoever, the episode ended and my iPod seamlessly jumped to the place where I left off at the second to last installment of Marvel Noise, meaning last week's episode.  But I didn't know this right away.  At first I thought, "Wow!  Two Marvel Tales in one week!"  My second thought was, "Wow!  Micronauts #7!  One of my favorite issues of all time!"  And I'm talking about one of those issues that is so synonymous with my childhood that it's almost as if I left my body and time travelled all at the same time.  I was practically hovering over my childhood living room looking down at myself as I'm reading it at age 11.

Without going into too much more boring detail, please suffice it to say that the circumstance of discovering "the lost Marvel Tales" from last week's episode was very unexpected, strange and magical.  And then... the shout out to boot.  You can only imagine which character I always identified with the most.

Thanks for the memories.   Smiley

Anytime brother, I aim to please as many people as possible!  I know what you mean when you refer to "touchstone" issues that really pull you back into when you first read those books; Micronauts, while it was based on licensed properties, really is a great example of how a creative team can pull out all the stops on creating an engaging experience that doesn't just regurgitate the toy line's advertising sheets.

If time permits and if David still wants me to help out with a few more of these segments, I've got some Godzilla, Shogun Warriors and Rom issues on the horizon!  Wink

That's it?  That's my contribution this week?  My driving skills?!?!?

Oy...

Speaking of driving, just how many bridges do you go over in your commute home, just out of curiosity? Thinking

There's one on the parkway and depending on which exit I get off of, just the one on the parkway.  But there are a few overpasses.
