R.E.B.E.L.S.R.I.P.

Awesome story about the ultimate power/control freak (Braniac 2) who runs a protection-for-hire racket across the universe and then he meets his match in an even BIGGER control freak (Starro
with a Space Viking ret-con
) and we got 28 issues about that struggle and a bit more.  Vril gathers the best collection of space heroes (Adam Strange, Starfire) and anti-heroes (Lobo, a Psion) bringing peace and dickish strife wherever he roams.  It was a goddamned blast reading this and being on board from the beginning.  Well done Bedard crafting a large story and wedging in a few smaller fun stories and even a major event tie-in while all the while staying true to the serie's imagination and sense of humor.  Andy Clarke started drawing this book with some great Quietly-esque clay-form line work and St. Aubin followed for the majority of the book keeping with Clarke's general design but adding his own brand of fantastic storytelling.

This book will be missed.  At least it went out on a great note. D#, to be exact.

THE OPEN TOMB: The twice-a-week podcast in which host Eric Anderson (from 'Long Distance Relationship' podcasting fame) reaches into the tomb and pulls out a dusty relic since lost to the ages. His focus: Movies and Comic Books. His target: Your curiosity and your famygdila (the part of your brain that regulates nostalgia). So enjoy his fun and informative evaluations. It's consistent AND pithy!

The last issue will be in my next DCBS box.
A while ago I bough the first like 15 or 18 issues on ebay, and immediately added the book to my pull list on DCBS. Glad I was able to get into it and not (for once) be the guy that finds out how awesome the series after is is all over.

One of the few DC books I was still picking up.  And a great book.

It was too good to last as an ongoing...

I really hope they eventually collect the whole run in one oversized omnibus, because it's one of the better DC cosmic runs.

R.I.P., you will be missed.

Cancelled to make room for tie-ins for a story I'm not interested in reading.

This was the only non Bat book I was reading at DC. Now its Just Batgirl & Detective.

Then why not a tie-in called, Flashpoint R.E.B.E.L.S?
