Comixology Question
« on: Today at 10:24 AM »

If a book doesn't do well do they just quit converting it to digital form?  The reason I ask is there are a couple series out there with only 1 or 2 issues.  They were added to comixology many month ago with nothing new in the last few months.  I don't want to buy these if they never plan on releasing the rest of the series.

It's too soon to say, they've stopped books like DMZ and Jonah Hex at 25, I asked Brian Wood on Twitter and he thinks it's DC holding back more but isn't sure (there sure seems to be a lack of transparency from everyone involved).

Comixology can only import x # of books a week so it might just be diverting resources to stuff that a) sells better or b) has minimal presence in the system.  It could easily be Comixology figuring "Well we've got 25 books from them, that's enough for now"

That's exactly right.  They seem to just have a manpower issue with getting the files uploaded on a weekly basis and I think they probably prioritize things that will be better sellers.  And, I'd bet that Marvel/DC huff and puff about getting their stuff up faster.

There are sooooo many interesting things about watching this evolve and I think in the long run, everything will be digital (but it'll take time).

- There is NO rhyme or reason to 99% of the Big 2 superhero releases.  They're just randomly flinging stuff up there.
- Most of the Vertigo titles can be found in the Comixology app, but cannot be found in the DC app (WTF?)
- Marvel releases new titles on Tuesday when everyone else release on Wednesday.
- Some Vertigo titles like Y the Last Man, Fables, 100 Bullets release a new issue every week, but then skip a week for no apparent reason.
- Titles where they release the first issue and then never release any more (Young Allies)
- Marvel's frequent 99 cent sales.  Recently they've been pushing Thor stuff, but last weekend they had the ~2009 War Machine series (WTF?)
- DC's 99 cent sales where they put like 100 issues of Green Lantern comics on sale every couple months.
- Image's complete lack of sales on anything.

Just weird, but fun to watch evolve.

The Veritgo only being in Comixology is because it's 17+ and the DC App is all ages, so Vertigo as a whole isn't available on it.

Where do Marvel books show up on Tuesday?  I've never seen them show up in the main Comixology app early

There have been a few image sales in the past. They got me totally hooked on Invincible with their half off Kirkman sale way back in early 2010, but yeah they're few and far between. I think it's sort of understandable as they're creator owned titles.

That makes sense on the Vertigo question.  At least that is one question answered.

On the Marvel/Tuesday issue, they've gone and made a liar of me.  It didn't update today, but they have done that in the past.  I figured they were working with Comixology to streamline things so that Comixology didn't have to go live with everything on Wednesday.  But, now they didn't do it this week, so it just adds one more thing to the lack of consistency with digital right now.

Here's another: In the Marvel App, they're hyping the 2004 New Avengers as their "featured" title when they only have the first 20 issues up.  How rewarding would that be as a read?
