I got the feeling that Brubaker was going to be the writer of one of the two books that's launching in June or July. Even if he doesn't I'm sure he has more mini's or something like that lined up. He is going to be writing all of Captain America now so that's extra pages anyways.

If it's staying $3.99 (and I'm assuming it is) I'm using this as a jumping off point. I've enjoyed all the Nick Spencer stuff I've read so far but I've been itching to drop $3.99 books. This will get me down to just two ongoings at that price...Cap and Uncanny X-Force.

Hopefully this frees Brubaker up for more creator-owned work.
I hope so too. Either that or something offbeat and not superhero-oriented. My favorite Brubaker work has been when he steps away from superheroes (Criminal, Dead Boy Detectives) or when he writes on the periphery of that world (Gotham Central).

i thought the subject said "Nick Spencer takes over Secret Warriors" then i thought "hey, isn't Thunder Agents just DC's Secret Warriors" then i spotted my reading error.
but i love Secret Warriors and Thunder Agents. Haven't had any love for the Secret Avengers. I'll give it one more try now.

So I guess that didn't last very long. I just say a report on ign saying Warren Ellis is taking over Secret Avengers with issue 16. That means Spencer got three issues and done. I'm really not sure what to think about this. What does everyone else think?

I am really enjoying Secret Avengers as it is now but if someone has to take it over Warren Ellis is a great choice!

Ellis is one of my comic gods but I hesitate with this. Avengers is fun, action but meta physical high concept drama. Don't get me wrong Authority and Planetary (which I use as the closest thing to a team book that he has done) were amazing. Every other thing from Transmet to Bad World are crazy awesome but my fear with him on an Avengers book will be; A) bit to preachy for my punch in the face comic (especially having Captain America on the team) B) Delay, delay, delay .. Ellis is nothing if not easy going in the deadline department. Id hate to see huge gaps in shipping. C) I would hate for it to take time away from the books where he really gets to go off and do what he wants without restraint, that's where Ellis shines.
However, my first instinct is to jump for joy with my favorite writer on one of my favorite Marvel books. Ill be there good or bad.

Nick Spencer said he was only doing 3 issues all along, just the Feat Itself tie-ins. not really that much of a surprise.
I'm looking forward to Ellis' run on the title, especially with Mckelvie on on of the issues.

Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. - Grant Morrison

Ellis calls for a big...
FUCK YEAH.
I'm not expert of the man's work, but I do love his Thunderbolts run. I'm sure he can do something cool with black-ops super-heroes.
I'm excited to learn who the other artist(s) will be. McKelvie for an issue is awesome, so I hope whoever else is working on these six issues can follow up.

After reading Nick Spencer's first two issues of Secret Avengers, I have to say that I am a bit disappointed. I think my biggest problem with the latest issue was that it was one of those stories where the main characters of the book were the guest star. It was also a Fear Itself tie-in which felt like a "fill-in" tie-in type material.
I think I prefer's Nick Spencer's Image and DC work more than his Marvel work so far.

I thought the .1 is was alright but #13 wasn't my thing. There was a couple interesting things wedged in between everything else. Otherwise this behind the scenes look wasn't that good. I enjoy tie-ins more when they feel important, are better than the main event book, or are continuing their own storylines as well. Which I guess was part of the problem for me there was no other storyline to carry it was just Fear Itself carrying the burden. Might replace this book with Avengers Academy.
