"Reminds me of a flagship character unmasking himself a few years back..."

My thoughts exactly. Although if they've announced a Dick and Damian series, maybe that means they're reimagining all the titles except the successful ones. Green Lantern and Batman stay the same, everything changes around them? Like Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind?

As soon as I hit "post" the DC talk started flowing. One point: Damian is exactly the kind of character you introduce just before a deck clearing. I've been buying more Batman comics now than I have at any point in my life, and it's because of Batman and Son. But if you're going to relaunch your core character as a young hip beginner, he can't be running around with his tweener son tagging behind him. Say goodbye to Damian.

Tom,
Can you elaborate on this a little more?  During all the DC talk I was actually wondering how much of a notice the current creators have on the reboot?  Did they know 6 months ago?  Longer than that, shorter?  How does that effect they characters they are writing, bringing back or thinking of bringing into an arc, etc?  It seems like it would take a concerted effort to tie up the universe in a nice bow before the reboot so I would have to think they would need buy in from the current creative teams but maybe I am wrong.

Without naming any names, I knew all the details of the Spidey reboot at least a year before it happened. (Easy to say now, right?) So even if all the details weren't worked out for a DC reboot, I'm sure the key creators knew that in 5 years, there was a deck clearing a-coming. DC's been trying to unmarry Superman for years. They also face the possiblilty of having to write Superman out of their continuity altogether.

I also seem to be in the minority here but I happened to like Superman: Earth One...

not the Greatest thing since slice bread but it was fun.  i don't understand the hate this book got besides the"it's not my superman" crowd.

who can't agree on a superman anyway.
