EOC Sketchbook Challenge (May-Star Wars!) - w/guest editor Herve Villachaize!
« on: 10:11 AM | Sunday, November 28, 2010 »

*******************************************

For this month's 11 O'Clock Sketchbook Challenge -- We're getting back to basics this month, and hoping to see a deluge of fun contributions as a result. For May, Guest Judge Herve Villachaize...er, I mean Jason Woooooooooooooood, wants to see y'all draw your favorite Star Wars characters!

Yep, Star Wars has been rocking the comics world for almost as long as it's rocked the cultural lexicon and now we have our chance to draw it.  Whether it's something from the classic Marvel (ne the first three films) worlds, or something from the new Clone Wars digests, or perhaps something from the expanded universe that's only been hinted at in the pages of a Dark Horse comic, all is fair!

*******************************************

Thanks for the new Assignment Wood.   Rock Horns

If you're new to the thread here's how it works.  We're here to have fun and to sharpen our drawing skills.  All amatuers & professionals are welcome to participate (still waiting for our first pro).  If you want to submit a piece of artwork here are the rules...Number #1) only post characters for the current month's assignment (a little spillover is OK from the previous month)...Number #2) You must be the artist (we're not looking for your original art collection, that's another thread)...& Number #3) (and most importantly) Have fun drawing.

Now by request here's an index to the previous month's submissions.

December 2010 - Captain America (pages 1-5)
January 2011 - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (pages 5-10)
February 2011 - Comic Book Couples / Gotham City Sirens edited by David Price (pages 10-15)
March 2011 - Spaceboy edited by Chris Neseman (pages 16-24)
April 2011 - Fables 100 edited by Vince B (pages 24-31)
May 2011 - Star Wars edited by Jason Wood (pages 31-

Monsta...the kinetic energy in those drawings are undeniable. Seriously, I've been sitting here trying to deny them for the past hour, and I can't. They will not be denied. And on top of that, I was inspired by your icon for my quick sketch of the evening.

Mickey...That's just sweetness all around.

Everyone, Keep it up...man this thread is sweet...Karma.

Man, I need to get a couple more sketches submitted this month.

BlueNote, love the lego figure!

Bryan, really enjoy the frenetic energy in that figure.

p.s.  I just received my brush-pen in the mail so I'll be giving it a test spin real soon.  Hopefully everyone will be viewing the results of my new toy.

I haven't drawn really anything since I was in high school but for today i was in a mood to pull out some pen and paper and contribute to the challenge.  Not too please with the lettering but i had a feeling of accomplishment once i was done!

But this is my tribute to Star Wars and Dr. Dre!

One last one for the night. I thought I'd give a human a try so I can get it out of the way and take on some of cool looking characters...

Congratulations guys!!!  Apparently this thread is getting so popular that I'm now getting requests from "non-artistic" (i.e., those that don't draw, paint, etc) forum members to see if they can participate in our fun by getting put "in the queue" to be a guest editor.

I actually had to start a list of "soon-to-be-guest-editors".   Cheesy

btw, I got something pretty awesome lined up for June   Thinking    Evil

This topic is on fire. More Karma all round. Buckets of Karma spilling everywhere. Smiley

I may have already started drawing some SW babes that *include* a Twi'lek, if that counts. I also would enjoy being a guest editor. Looking forward to what Andrew Tom has for us.
