All goes into one account. I have an allowance for comics and stuff, but everything is budgeted.

All goes into one account. Mainly because our incomes are not close to equal so splitting stuff wouldn't be that fun for one of us. Whistle

We keep things separate, but mostly it's because of payment. My university uses one bank and that's where my salary goes and my wife's salary comes from an overseas company and has to use a different bank. I'm American and I get paid in Korean Won and my wife is Korean and gets paid in dollars. Go figure.

Aside from a situation like Dave where there's foreign domicile/currency issues, I honestly can't fathom not having joint finances. A marriage is a partnership at the highest level, how on Earth would that not include joint finances? My wife and I have everything joint...from our checking account to our stock accounts to our names on the mortgages to life insurance to everything. Technically we each have our names on a car, and some of the bills are in her name or mine, but that's mostly arbitrary because most billing accounts ask for one name. Our major credit cards though are joint, as well. We also pay joint taxes (she really doesn't have an income anymore, although we filed jointly in the years she was a scientist, too).

joint finances. we're a team. as cliche as it sounds, what's her's is mine and mine is her's.
obviously, big ticket purchases are discussed, but we're both responsible and are free to spend as we see fit.

As others have said, we also have a joint set up with a fortnightly 'allowance' to do what we wish with. coincides with our fortnightly payday.

It took a bit for me to get used to, but I cant argue with the results. The car is paid off and we are on track to get our house paid off in record time. But thats my wifey! organised to the extreme.

we keep them separate, i pay most the bills (except food we split). i make about 5 times what my fiancee does since she is still in college so i feel its reasonable to pay the bills.

i figure that way she cant complain about my comic bill Smiley
