An adaptation of Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming's "Powers" has been greenlit by FX, Bendis just confirmed through his Twitter account.

"It's official!" the author jokes, "your window of reading Powers while it was still cool is running out."

The series, which was announced for development last year with "Journeyman" creator Kevin Falls writing the pilot, tells the story of police detective in charge of investigating superhero-related homicides.

If previous reports pan out, Michael Dinner ("Karen Sisco," "Kidnapped") will direct the pilot.

I do love the hardcovers. The fourth one that just came out was the weakest though. I haven't read any of the new stuff

yeah, the recent run of powers has made me significantly less excited for a tv show.

I'll get excited once I see screen shots, or at least casting news. 

As for the comic.  I didn't want to seem too harsh, but yeah you're right.  Oeming hasn't even been doing it for me on that book, and I freakin' love Oeming. 

I think a good way to revive the book would kind of be like a "Tales of Walker and Pilgrim" small one shots of police mixing with superheroes.  Not everything has to be a long drawn out case.

They will have plenty of early POWERS stories to build a series off of.  FX needs series right now.  Rescue Me will end this year.  Terriers didn't make it past one season.  JUSTIFIED is great but can't be on all the time.

One of the best parts of the announcement of the Powers pilot for FX is casting speculation. The one consistent name that keeps coming up across the board is Katee Sackhoff as Deena Pilgrim. Tim Daniel, the Powers web master and often book designer made this for our message board,

Someone took her picture to look like a cop and she was sporting short hair. I don't think it is true but yet it be cool. Was going to post the link but it appears the page is not found now.
