Another fun page. I'm taking some of your directional sound effects and implementing them into the latest pencilled page of Awful. You mentioned not having your character ironed out quite yet, do you do character sheets for your characters prior to them getting into the comics? Or do you work out your problems in panel?

That's great! but I never would have imagined my lettering would be something someone would look at and think they wanted to try to work like that.
I don't do character sheets, scripts, thumbnail sketches, preliminary drawings or problem solving of any kind. I work one page at a time using a nonrepro blue pencil for the penciling. I sketch in the bare minimum for detail before going in with ink. I try not to spend more than 4 hours per page from start to finish, but coloring and lettering sometimes make it take longer. I can usually pencil a page in 1/2 and hour to an hour once I get going. Inking takes a bit longer.

Whew, I would be a nervous wreck with your process. I've been laying out prelimiary work for two projects I'm not planning on starting until next year! Our time per page seems pretty similar but I'm spending a LOT more time in planning. I'm not really sure that it shows
Keep up the great work Dave. I really appreciate you sharing your work and ideas with me.

I take more time in planning for other things, this is my "blowing off steam" thing. If I started putting that much effort into it, it would just start feeling like another job. I prefer the immediacy of the way I'm working now.
I hope to keep working on this for as long as I can. I enjoy the back and forth as well.

Splash page... I like the pun. I only wish I would have thought of that.
How's the inking coming along? I didn't overload you, did I?

I showed you the inked page remember? I didn't change anything else since then but it is colored and up on the website. I forgot to post the link in all the Heroes Con excitement.

Yeah, I remember looking at it, I was wondering if any of the feedback I gave was helpful or if it was too much. Sounds like you had a lot going on and might not have had time to really look or read what I sent.

No lie, he's about to get clobbered.

Last time, Better-Man got punched hard enough to disappear. This week he reappears under strange conditions.
He was punched hard enough to rip through dimensions.
Can the Hulk do that? I don't think so.
And that last panel... How can that happen to the main character?
Check it out here.
