Listen to the 'MATINEE IDLES' + 'THE CHEMICAL BOX' podcasts

Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. - Grant Morrison

Clams Casino.

Holy hell, I found a new amazing instrumental hip hop artist.  I really love instrumental hip hop, especially when it is a release that is INTENDED to be instrumental (Prefuse 73, DJ Shadow, Fourtet).  I read a review about the new Clams Casino ep and it sounded interesting.  Apparently he's done some cool beats for rappers I haven't listened to and can't vouch for.  But then I found his early "Instrumental Mixtape" online for free and it blew me away.  Really haunting, heavy and layered hip hip beats.

THE OPEN TOMB: The twice-a-week podcast in which host Eric Anderson (from 'Long Distance Relationship' podcasting fame) reaches into the tomb and pulls out a dusty relic since lost to the ages. His focus: Movies and Comic Books. His target: Your curiosity and your famygdila (the part of your brain that regulates nostalgia). So enjoy his fun and informative evaluations. It's consistent AND pithy!

Lately I just listen to The Hold Steady, over and over and over.

I never hear anyone around the forums talk about that band but I just cant get enough, great guitars, original lyrics, and a falling over themselves delivery that makes you pay attention.

If you write a rock and roll song about John Berryman, I will listen.
