Episode 42 - Plumbing The Depths of Music!
Gordie is joined by Ty Domke to talk about music, UFOs and plumbing. Ty goes to his first concert at the LA Forum, wants to play her-monica and knows a little bit about a lot of things. Joe Satriani sets off the fire alarm at The Uptown Theater where the sound is incredible. Big Country and UFO makes Gordie smile and we finish up talking about wine, Maynard from Tool and Art Bell. (Jake Shimabukuro, The Rolling Stones, KISS, The Doors, The Southern Death Cult, Jimi Hendrix, The Who and Huey Lewis also come up.)

Episode 118 of Views From The Longbox is live!
No apologies this time. Just me posting an episode after a month…literally. But I come bearing another bit of “lost audio” from last year when Thomas Deja (links in a paragraph or two) and I sat down to discuss one of the most underrated of all DC Crossovers…Underworld Unleashed. In this first part of a two part episode Thomas and I discuss how a simple idea like, “Let’s amp up some villains,” can turn into a damn good story, the first issue of the series and the first batch of crossovers that go with it. There are numerous digressions, of course, because this is Views From The Longbox and there will always be digressions, though one involves Beer Fest, which was an awesome movie.
Seriously. I love that film.
I also announce why I won’t be going forward with Nothin’ But The Nineties this year. I know some of you will be disappointed but all is explained in the episode.
Check out more links and such at the official Views website!

You may have seen us talking about this at The Book Club, or seen Matt H.O.W.L., Farrell, or my own signature sporting a lovely new banner, or come across us by some other means. If you haven't, though... consider cheering yourself up on this saddest of days with a new episode of The Bookhouse Boys!
A few of your friendly neighborhood forum...ites? ers? izers? 3 doods you know got together to chat books. This week:
With some help from 12 year old scotch, orange soda and something made from oats, Dave, Matt and Jason try to make the internet a less lonely place with some lively discussion about the first section of The Heart is a Lonely Hunter, by famed southern writer Carson McCullers. Starring Ron Jeremy!

Episode 43 - Four Monkees At The Table!
In an unprecedented Gordcast, Gordie and Paul wrangle previous guest: Nathan Alfaro and new guest: Brian Nash to provide a glimpse into when four friends get together around a mic and let fly. (...Gordie a little too much.)
MIKE NESMITH seems to be the main topic, but we hit on THE MONKEES, JUDAS PRIEST, THE FOO FIGHTERS, PRINCE THE BANANA SPLITS, BURT WARD, WIL WHEATON, the roots of Alt Country and way too much table banging for emphasis.
The sound can be a bit jarring at times, so hold onto yer ears.

Listen to the 'MATINEE IDLES' + 'THE CHEMICAL BOX' podcasts
Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. - Grant Morrison

In this episode the boys tackle the best superhero movie of all time Paul Verhoeven’s 1987 sci-fi action cult classic “Robocop” starring Peter Weller, Kurtwood Smith, and Nancy Allen. Everything is discussed from the Christ parellels, the one-liners, the social commentary, the sequels, and the genius of ED-209. So sit back and enjoy because you know there will be …..trouble.
