hoooolleeeeee shit. wotta show.
amy pond's time baby! REGENERATING!!! what the fuck!
bad ass river song!
and why didn't they follow up on
the (future) astronaut/doctor murder
right away?
-mike
That was my first reaction to the ending - . Whaaaaaaat?!
I also wondered why they didn't follow up on astronaut/little girl. My partner pointed out that they're time travelers and can return to investigate later if they want. True...just hasn't previously been the doctor's style. Very weird that he's leaving a loose end. Story-wise, they're obviously planning something for later in the season.
But but...
how did they create a new Time Lord?
"Day of the Moon" was better than last week's, but I still had issues with it.
The bypassing of how they remember The Silents exist so they can fight them was one, but my main problem was The Doctor turning the human race into weapons. First "time can be rewritten," now it's okay for the human race to be murderers? Is Moffat ever going to have The Doctor stop and look at what he's become?
There were certainly things that I liked. The orphanage was creepy and the ending was quite the intriguing cliffhanger. Mark Sheppard got a lot more to do, hopefully they bring Canton back. I even liked the flirting between The Doctor and River. But hands down, my favorite parts were the emotional moments with Rory. Arthur Darvill was fantastic and Rory is now my favorite modern companion after Donna. So it's not a bad episode by any stretch, but my main problem with it is a major one to get past.
Considering The Silence were responsible for the cracks in time in the previous season, I guess the humans couldn't have killed them all off back in the 60s. How they remember they exist in order to kill them - my understanding was that they can implant subliminal suggestions (the bit with Canton straightening DW's bow tie). So that when the message was played during the moon landing, "You should kill us on sight", it ensures that when a human sees one of The Silence, they try to kill it automatically. Not sure how that's going to work outside of America where people aren't usually carrying guns
That orphanage scene where Amy is exploring was incredibly creepy. The constant memory loss when you the viewer knows she needs to get the hell out was stressful to watch.
A good episode.

i see your point, but as the doctor says, its a rebellion. its established that the baddies are pretty evil, and the humans are just fighting for freedom... at least that was my impression. the audio of the silents dialogue wasn't that clear in my TV. i didn't really hear what it was saying in the cell.
a bigger mystery was amy's hallucination(?).
what was up with the woman with the weird eye patch?
did they ever explain why the silents put the kid in the suit? my guess is that they implanted the time baby in amy (or messed with her existing baby). they need a pilot for the alien tardises (tardisii?) that they can control/manipulate or something.
and yeah, that scene with rory and the communication device was brutal. holy shit that wrecked me. and river and
the doctor's last/first kiss.
dayyyymmmm.

My crazy theory:
River Song is Amy's baby. She'll sacrifice herself out of existence to save the Doctor from the Astronaut killer by season's end.

What I don't get is
how Amy's baby can do what Time Lords can. She got herself out of the suit because she was "extraordinarily strong" as well. So why isn't anyone saying she is actually The Doctor's kid that Amy bears? And if so, then she can't turn out to be River because ... hello ... "Sweetie!"??
AND if that little girl IS River, why can't/didn't River regenerate in the 'Silence in the Library' conclusion?

Yeah, that's why I think the baby is someone else.
We already know what happens to River....don't we?
I can't wait to see this play out

I finally watched "Day of the Moon" last night and was a little disappointed. I thought the story was pretty sloppy, although it certainly had it's moments (Rory's storyline was excellent). I'm a casual Doctor Who fan, not a diehard, so maybe the story was more cohesive than I thought and I just missed callbacks to previous episodes . whatever the reason, this episode just didn't work for me.
I loved the beginning though.

Man you guys have me hooked. I started the 5th season on the weekend and am now caught up. I gotta say I was a little disappointed in the conclusion of the last episode, in only because I had a feeling the whole season was going to be battling them Silence guys. That would of been freaking sweet. 13 episodes of that creepy sci-fi would of been a dream.
I dig the River Song story plot, though it gives me a headache thinking about it. I get the whole, ok the first time he sees me it will be the last time I see him. Same with kissing etc. But I find it confusing thinking about it from the other way. So every time we run into her it will be a younger version and she won't remember things like the silence, TARDIS bomb and angles? But in the angel episode it was like the first time she met Pond.

I think Gaiman's episode is the one after this latest one (with the pirates). The trailer was intriguing anyway.
So, pirates...yeah, cool, but what I really need to know is
what's the deal with Amy's hallucinations of the woman opening the peep door? My current theory: An alternate timeline, pregnant Amy is being held somewhere until she has the baby. Somewhere with the little peep door and those scenes are leaking into our Amy's consciousness.

pretty good theory (since i'm thinking of the same thing). maybe thats why
doc's getting negative/positive reading from amy's scans. like schrodinger's cat, but with babies.
and is it me or does
the peep hole woman look kinda like fish-lady from last season, but with an eye patch?
overall, the episode was ok. fun, and had lots of nice character drama, but so-so when compared to the greats.

I loved the show, but I hate this time in my life. I'm nearly 40 now and can't tell who I'm more in love with, Amy Pond or River Song
The show was great! So glad it's back.
I'm turning 30 soon, and while Amy is wonderful, if I could swim in any body of water, it's going to be River. Let everyone else have the Pond.
See, cause they both have water things in their names. And when I say swimming, I'm using a euphemism. For sex. That I want to have. With a make believe time traveling woman.
