I am about halfway through the episode and wanted to post this thought before it disappeared completely. At some point during the Dr. Strange talk (which I am digging, by the way) and at one point someone (I think Steve) brings up Tim Burton and it occurred to me that as much as I really don't like Batman Returns (but this is MARVEL NOISE, Mike. It's MARVEL NOISE.) I think Dr. Strange would be a good character for Burton to tackle. His film making sensibilities seem to mesh well with Dr. Strange and his world, especially those Ditko issues, and while he would probably cast Johnny Depp as Strange and his wife would be in the movie...somehow we might get Christopher Lee as the Ancient One, which wouldn't be all bad.
Just my two cents. I look forward to the rest of the episode.

I could see that being a Tim Burton film, but since Christopher Nolan is finishing up on Batman I would love to see him take on a Marvel movie. I think his style would be perfect for Dr. Strange. Plus, I think if they wanted to include him in with the rest of the Marvel Movie Universe, someone like Nolan would be more likely to make a movie that would fit in easier.

I can see that, Mike. While I am not the biggest fan of the Nolan Batman films I think his sensibilities (there's that word again) steer naturally towards Marvel. I would go see a Dr. Strange film directed by him. If memory serves David Goyer had a Dr. Strange script at one point and wanted to do it with mostly practical effects so maybe they could dust that off and make it happen.
Then again I would like to hear a Danny Elfman Dr. Strange score.

I vote for a Dr Strange movie to not fit in.......be its own thing and be totally crazy....Burton (or better yet, some hungry Burton underling with his own vision) would work for me in taking on the good Doctor!

Karma on that one!

I guess Burton has just kind of soured on me over the years. I wonder what Guy Ritchie could do with a character like Dr. Strange? I would love to see him take on a comic movie sometime. I know he's more in the crime genre, but Sherlock Holmes was kind of a departure from his norm and I thought it was pretty good.

Don't we hate to admit it, but Johnny Depp would make a great Stephen Strange. But he'd better cut that damn hair this time.
Helena Bonham Carter would be Clea, of course and if you bleached her hair with, and gave her the two little flippitt-ee-doos, I say she'd make a good Clea too. (I watched her in The King's Speech, and loved her more than ever!)

Depp would make a great Sorcerer Supreme. And I can see Helena as Clea too. And Crispin Glover as Mordo for that matter.
I need to see The King's Speech. I like everyone involved though my wife saw Carter in the ad on television and asked how she could be in the film since it wasn't directed by Burton.

No way, Patrick Dempsey all they way! He's already got doctor cred!
I seen an interview with Helena the other night at work. She is really smoking hot when she is not in character. I would be cool with her as Clea.

What would be considered more wrong?
That I thought Carter was much more attractive in full ape make-up than the woman playing Nova in Burton's Planet of the Apes remake?
Or
That I admitted to seeing that film in the theater?
I leave it to council to judge my fate.

Ape make-up in ANY era proves to be hot. Must be speaking to our inner monkeys!

Steve and Andrew
Just finished your segment on Dr Strange. I give enough praise to Steve, so Andrew I am giving you all the credit this time. Steve is the Dormmamu to your Master of the Mystic Arts!
I recently found a pile of reader copy issues of Strange Tales I didn't know I had. Must have been some from ebay binging a few years ago....In any case, these issues are exactly some of the issues you guys are discussing. So I am looking forward to finishing that run.
I would love to see your next team up be something like the Astonishing Tales split book featuring Kazar/Dr Doom or the Marvel Super Villain Team Up series. Regardless, I look forward to your next contribution.
Thanks and keep up the great work.
Excelsior!
