I listened while mowing my grass, and I think the first part I heard David and registered he was actually talking for more than five seconds was about 42 minutes into the episode. I think DAP should get more time to talk about his favorite TV shows
I totally disagree about the Tron Legacy, it was really cool (I saw it in 3D in theatres) and it was much more entertaining than Doctor Who IMO. Like Avatar the story was mediocre, but the visuals were very cool.
Jason was talking about Taskmaster before, but it might have been the episode where Chris was gone curling. I don't read Marvel much anymore, but I'll definitely be checking out this mini.

Tron was another one of those remakes that was much more enjoyable watching it with my son. Like the first Tron did with me he got caught up in the idea of a digital world rather then the movie itself. I thought as a movie it was a stinker but it was a fun family movie.
I never watched any of the old Doctor Who episodes pre 2005. When it re launched my curiosity got the better of me and I was immediately blown away. One of the smartest shows on TV and continues to be. Definitely not for everybody but if you ever get a chance to just watch the episode from season 3 titled "blink" it will sell you or it won't and after that you'll know for sure if it's for you.

New rule.
Every time Jason lets his dislike for DW be known I will provide full episode recaps during our recordings.
And by full recaps I mean Vince Style recaps.

Sean Bean, from Game Of Thrones, has been around a while in England. One of my favorite things he did was the Sharpe's series. Based on Bernard Cornwell's book series, Sharpes is about a squad of Riflemen in Wellington's Army fighting against Napoleon. Good stuff. Sean Bean played Sharpe and kicks ass. Bean was also in a great tv movie I saw in London (can't remember title) in which he plays an amateur level weekend warrior soccer/football player who gets called up to the majors but can't stop partying.
yeah sharpe was great - especially when he wins the battle of waterloo all by himself!
i think the film you're thinking of is called "when saturday comes". also the name of a football site/fanzine i believe.

If we switched to a 100% Doctor Who cast we would triple our listeners.

Love Sean Bean in everything he does (no one mentioned Equilibrium). Then again he dies or goes to jail in 95% of the movies he has been in. Poor guy.

Regarding Doctor Who, and another reason why I love Alan...
There are always a few things in your youth that add to the soup that is the way you view the world. For me, Doctor Who (and later the heroic stories in comics) helped teach me about:
The wonders of imagination and how BIG the universe can be.
That it's better to believe that people are good at the core even if they don't always show it.
Friendship (or companionship in this case) is more powerful than an armada of gunships.
Being strange or different or unique is ALWAYS better than blending into the crowd.
Sometimes all you need is a good screwdriver to solve the problem.
And most importantly, Love is the most powerful force in the cosmos.
Long live The Doctor
Oh my God, Chris....?!
ALL OF THAT!! ALL ALL ALL!!
Especially the LOVE!! Believing in the good of people when they don't show it = LOVE!!
Friendship/companionship is the one thing that the new Who got wrong!! The strength of the Whovian universe to me is in watching the human companion (ME...let's face it) find such an amazing friend like the Doctor. They didn't have to be in love or kiss even one time and STILL he would threaten a nation of Daleks or face down a battalion of Cybermen to rescue me...uh, I mean them. ( You.) If The Doctor was your friend, you knew he was coming for you. You knew you could trust him.
Even after 20-plus years, he came back for Sarah Jane.
This is all just reinforcing my viewpoint that people who don't like The Doctor just doesn't KNOW The Doctor. And that's sad-making, because they might be missing out on enjoying the exploration of everything Chris said up there.
You wonderful, fuzzy grumpy cuss-bear! LOOKIT YOU WITH THE SOFT GOOSHY MIDDLE!!!

Colin Baker is the worst.
If you're talking about the stories during his era sure, they're pretty dire, but Colin Baker himself? He's a great Doctor. My favorite in fact.

Comics were definitely happier, breezier and more confident in their own strengths before Hollywood and the Internet turned the business of writing superhero stories into the production of low budget storyboards or, worse, into conformist, fruitless attempts to impress or entertain a small group of people who appear to hate comics and their creators. - Grant Morrison
