X-Men 7-10 arc .. this one Im all over.
« on: 08:05 PM | Sunday, May 29, 2011 »

I dint want my only recent thread to be negative (regarding the latest Avengers Arc) so I thought I'd post an arc that I really grooved on.

X-Men 7-10

This was kick in the ass. In contrast to Chaykin, Bachalo KILLED this. His layout and design absolutely draw me into the world. His coloring is dead on with his style and every panel is just a feast for the eyes. Set that up with a fun story involving The Lizard and a team of X-men that really pops and it's all good. Storm leading this team puts her right back to where she should be. Along with Emma as a foil to her personality, Gischler easily found these characters voices. I absolutely loved these four issues and hope theres more of this in the future.

As Cyclops says
"You know what the best part is? It's a pure win. Heroes being heroes. Nothing more, nothing less. It feels pretty damn good."

couldn't agree more. I would be happy if bachalo just stayed on this book.  for as much wolverine that gets shoved in my face every month, I would say bachalo's take is the most refreshing and fun

I loved it too.  I just don't think Bachalo can do a monthly book and that's a shame because I really love him.  But every time he's on a 4-issue arc it seems like on issue #1 he is doing pencils and colors and has two inkers and by issue #4 someone else is doing colors, he has 4 inkers and a helper artist doing a few pages as well. I just wish they could find the proper lead time to give him so that he could do the whole story the right way.  I'd also be curious to see what would happen if you just forced him to do it monthly.  What would we give up?  Would it look like crap (doubt it) or would the layouts still awesome, but Lizard just has 30% fewer scales?

His coloring is actually really awesome.  Isn't that a newer thing for him?  I think he's a better colorist than a LOT of guys actually working as colorists.

Agree with everything there Dean. His coloring is amazing and sometimes I overlook it for his pencils. I think the longest running series he did was Generation X? How many issues did he do in a row on that?
