There's a "shithead", several "shits" and, I believe, a "fuck" or two in Super 8 and you know what? I'm glad. 13 year old kids call each other shithead sometimes. Didn't feel out of place, didn't ruin the movie.

Okay, so I finally got to see the movie tonight....
THAT WAS A FRIGGIN' GREAT X-MEN MOVIE!!!
I had the highest expectations for this, and it really didn't let me down in any way. It's a huge divergence from the regular continuity, and normally when comic book movies do that, the changes actually seem to hurt the movie. This was a fantastic example of how these changes, if done with care, can really enhance the subject matter.
Regarding the F-bomb...
I have to say, there is an argument to be made for that being in there. First of all, if there is EVER a character in that movie to utter that phrase, it has to be Wolverine. And if you really want to push that cameo into one of the all-time great Marvel movie cameos, that really did it. Swear words, by their taboo nature, hold a great deal of linguistic power. If you used a phrase like "Go to hell" or something similar, it just wouldn't have the power to push Charles/Eric back out the door. Wolverine is a badass, and that sends the message that he wants to be left alone. Did not see that cameo coming, and loved every minute of it.
As far as the impact on kids, I really think this is all a moot point. If you take a look at the entire movie, this is clearly not a kids movie. I work with kids every day as a school psychologist and have 2 of my own. I can honestly say that I would tell parents they should be more more concerned with scenes like the coin being pushed through Sebastian Shaw's head in slow motion (that was pretty graphic) or Azazel slaughtering the soldiers. If your kids understand that certain language is inappropriate, then the impact of one swear word is minimal.
Now I can go back and listen to the 10 minutes of this episode that I skipped over

Ok, I was just listening to the episode and had to stop to defend Chris. I am one of those AC listeners from before Skottie Young would come on and talk about the business side of comics. I think my first time listening to EOC was right after a New York Comic Con I believe, where Chris took a pretty good bashing of being quite the tourist in the big city. SO, thank you AC for bring me to EOC.

Not much free time for forums lately, my fine folks ( although the Twitter addiction seems to be back in full force), but I wanted to pop in and say that the latest episodes have been top notch, top notch.
I download a few other comics podcasts here and there when beloved creators appear as guests, but nothing seems to have the same magic as 11 O'Clock Comics.
You never forget your first time. And with you four working it, every show feels like the first time.

Yup- I only found out about EOC from Chris pimping it on AC, which was the first comics podcast I ever listened to.
The episode maintained the streak by the way (although I think the streak started at episode 1, so what do I know?)

Same, and because of these guys, I listen to iFanboy. And because of iFanboy, I listen to other stuff. It's a vicious circle.

Vince thanks for the shout out, I'm glad I could give something back to you given all the enjoyment you have brought to my life. Chris glad to hear you got the print, thought maybe I pissed you off giving you an image of a Mets player instead of a Cardinals one. Jason you have rocketed up to the top of my EOC list of hosts who I am most relating to or being influenced by. Have to disagree with Vince though, Browns auto-bio work is much better than his Yummy Fur; I love Yummy Fur, Ed the Happy Clown too though don't get me wrong. His earlier absurdo work feels like a gifted visual artist learning to become a storyteller, where as his auto-bio stuff is him in complete control. I am a sucker for using art as a way to deal with what is tearing away at your soul, sublimation is what my therapist calls it.
I agree with David, Men of Tomorrow is such a great read. I would think Jason would love it because the theme of the book is how the creative and financial sides shaped the industry. The DC heads just destroyed everyone around them, the strip where Donenfeld is spanking Superman still haunts me http://crossover.bureau42.com/zsuperdonen.html
I really enjoyed Mike Richardson's "Comics Between the Panels" book. There are so many weird and tragic tales and juicy bits in there that I never knew before picking up that book.
Great show(s) guys keep recording and I'll keep listening!!

OK, so I know this has nothing to do with this weeks show, but I just was reading some old issues of Mutant X w/ Nord on pencils and Pepoy on inks and let me tell you how amazing this pages are I know his run on Conan was great, but seriously, this team up of Nord and Pepoy is awesome!! Did they do anything else together that someone could recommend?? Also, let me know what you think of this run on Mutant X, I believe this book started in 99.
Keep em coming Bitches...weird...I think I was just possessed by the spirit of J. Wood.

Same here. But I equate it with dating a girl just to get to her hotter sister.
