Bizarre Adventures

Originally titled ‘Marvel Preview’, running from 1975 to 1981 before changing its name to ‘Bizarre Adventures’,

Marvel Preview spotlighted a variety of different characters and genres such as Thor, Sherlock Holmes, Kull, Blade the Vampire Hunter, Moon Knight, Star-Lord, Paradox, and UFO, Horror and Detective anthologies.

#20 & 23 were anthologies entitled ‘Bizarre Adventures’ and ‘Bizarre Adventures 2’ with stories by title editor Lynn Graeme, Denny ONeil, Steve Skeates, Roger Stern and Mike W Barr, and art teams such as John Buscema/Joe Jusko, Gene Colan/Alfredo Alcala, Frank Miller, and Steve Bissette.

By issue 25, the title changed its name to ‘Bizarre Adventures’, running for 10 issues from 1981 to 1982 before being cancelled with issue #34

Marvel Preview #11 with Star-Lord by Claremont, Byrne and Austin is still one of the fondest memories I've ever had of buying and enjoying comics as a kid (the same day, I also bought DC Special #29 featuring the origin of the Justice Society by Levitz, Staton and Layton-- the day was friggin' magic...)

There was also an issue of Preview that featured the second book of Gil Kane's Blackmark...

Lethal Ladies and Secret Lives of The X-Men were absolutely terrific...

An interesting note about the Huntsman story in #28's Unlikely Heroes, other than the fact that it was realearly Michael Golden artwork, it was also a re-worked Logan's Run story...

Man, I miss those Marvel Magazines... and that includes Epic Illustrated as well, a book that never should've left us...

These stories were reprinted in the early '80's in full color in a comic-sized 'Star-Lord Special Edition'... that was my first exposure to the character - that's some good comics!

Man, I miss those Marvel Magazines... and that includes Epic Illustrated as well, a book that never should've left us...

....or at least hung in there long enough for Byrne to finish 'The Last Galactus Story'! - Great Magazine, indeed!
