He had enhanced strenght and senses due to the link to the totem god. He lost that when he passed the mantle to the female Panther.
However I thought he got it back during Doomwar, but linking to another unknown god.
I remember him powering UP for battle with the mystically-enhanced Doom, but I don't recall ever seeing him using 'superpowers' of his own prior to that in 40 years of reading Black Panther.
According to the OHotMU Master Edition from the mid-90's, T'Challa is said to have " unusually (but not super-humanly) acute senses, especially eye-sight, night vision, and sense of smell; highly accomplished hunter and tracker"
furthermore, "none" is listed for all SuperHuman power catagories, including strength. They state that the 'Source of superhuman powers' is "Inapplicable, Howerver, the Black Panther's physical abilities have been enhanced to peak human levels through the use of sacred heart-shaped Wakandan herbs and through his mystical connection with the Wakandan Panther God."
...and that's what I always thought....shame someone (writer/editor) in the last 10 years or so didn't think T'Challa was able/equipped enough as is and had to give him superpowers to be effective as the Panther
I think he always managed fine.

This is sort of what I thought (having not really read many Black Panther comics at all) but they keep mentioning that he's no longer connected to the Panther totem, so I just figured he had some sort of powers that I didn't know about, but he no longer had them so I could just forget it and move on.

Honestly I am interested in seeing how this plays out. Outfit or no.
Ha Ha I analyze movement quality and barriers to age-appropriate mobility in disabled children as part of my profession, so I can't help but notice what I consider to be glaring restrictions here!
Half of me wants you to analyze every superhero suit just so I have more geekyness to read.
Bucky Cap, Punisher Cap, and Panther Cap should do a team up book called the League of Substitute Americans
...and now their is seltzer in my keyboard.

That was changed in subsequent OHOTMU entries.
Most recently:
Powers
T'Challa's senses and physical attributes have been enhanced to superhuman levels by the heart-shaped herb.
Abilities
T'Challa is a brilliant tactician, strategist, scientist, tracker and a master of all forms of unarmed combat whose unique hybrid fighting style incorporates acrobatics and aspects of animal mimicry. T'Challa being a royal descendent of a warrior race is also a master of armed combat, able to use a variety of weapons but prefers unarmed combat. He is a master planner who always thinks several steps ahead and will go to extreme measures to achieve his goals and protect the kingdom of Wakanda.

We're still talking relatively recent changes, though, given the history of the character, which I think handled himself quite fine without going superhuman. My mindset is that there shouldn't be any big effect of him currently being referred to as being 'depowered', since he was only recently 'empowered', and the character had stood otherwise for decades and was a badass.
....and I was hoping you'd chime in again since you'd likely know where he was at with all this!

It makes no sense to me why the king of a foreign nation would dress up in the U.S. flag. It would be like if George W. Bush started walking around in a maple leaf all the time.

I'm pretty sure it will be against his will. I mean of all heroes I consider Black Panther to be genuinely mistrusting of America, which is part of why he is cool.
